On November 11, 2019, the Columbia University Libraries co-hosted with the Buddhist Digital Resource Center (BDRC) a collaborative workshop that brought together 48
representatives of major Tibetan and Buddhist digital initiatives with scholars and metadata experts to share knowledge and unite the field around information standards. With portions of the day-long workshop also open to Columbia library staff, graduate students, and certain New York City professionals (e.g. museum curators), the total number of attendees was nearly 70. Primary funding for the event was provided by the Tsadra Foundation, with supplementary funding from the Weatherhead East Asian Institute. BDRC is already building on the momentum from this workshop, and Columbia continues to partner with them and with other groups such as the Treasury of Lives project.
